So, you know by now that there are actually more like 20-30 titles in my top ten list. The following makes the cut and I watch it EVERY fall. It's a highly relational, emotional, chick-flick that the sensitive male could enjoy if you made the right snacks and told him how good-looking you think he looks about every 20 minutes...

Movie Quote Monday

Thanksgiving night it was my pleasure to watch one of the most beautiful films made in the past ten years. Beautiful. That's the best word I can think of to describe it. It was beautiful to look at, to listen to, to feel in your soul. Beautiful. Sitting their in a crowded theatre, I felt all by myself for at least half the show, wrapped in this beautifully delicious movie. I don't remember a time ever being more annoyed when fellow movie-goers drew my attention away from the screen. As I sat and waited for the film to start, there was a teenage girl sitting about 8 rows behind me. She mentioned to her friend that it was the third time she had been to see Twilight. "Crazy teenager, who doesn't have anything better to spend her money on.", was my initial thought. Leaving the theatre, I felt entranced. I told Jeff it was as if I had been to the art museum and experienced a great piece of art. I intend to see this film again before it leaves the theatre. If you are thinking about seeing it at all, go now. As of right now, Playlist doesn't offer any of the movie soundtracks. This first song "Puppet Love" was composed by Carter Burwell, who also composed "Bella's Lullaby" for the Twilight soundtrack.

So, if I were stuck on a desert island [or a dessert island for that matter] and could only ever watch one movie for the rest of my entire life, it would be this one. I know I pretty much quoted the entire movie, except for one favorite quote...Guess what it is and win a prize. It must first be said, on this bitter cold morning in November, that "I believe in Santa Clause." I absolutely do . AND I boldly say "Merry Christmas." I tell you this not to stir up controversy, but to warn you that you that there will most assuredly be pro-Santa/pro-"CHRIST"mas propaganda when you visit with me, here, over the next few months. The Happening

Before we get into the Movie Quotes for the week, I feel it my duty to do a short movie review on Midnight Shammy's newest addition to his mostly brilliant collection of films. I was highly disappointed in this film. The cinematography was beautiful. The actors, as usual were top notch. The love story was simple and easy to cheer for. These three elements have been the icing on the cake for the majority of his films, the cake being a delicious meld of plot twists and character development. No plot twist here. No character development, as most of the characters commit suicide before your eyes, before you really get to know them. Goody! John Leguizamo's acting was stellar, as usual, but again, he sat in the middle of the road and sliced his wrist open with a jagged piece of glass debris, as I numbly watched. Goody! At one point in the film, a man turns on a huge, industrial size sod mower and lays down in front of it. Goody! Marky Mark (Sorry, he'll always be Marky Mark to me.) gave a sub par performance most of the movie, but then he really wasn't given much to work with either. His character, Elliot Moore, had some token dialogue 2/3rds through the movie, at which time I became hopeful that the film was turning. It was - in a downward slope from bad to horrible. Also, traditionally, M. Night Shyamalan makes a cameo appearance in his films. He appears, in voice only, as an adulterer, calling on the phone. Again, goody! This film leaves you feeling hopeless and there is no redemption. I rate this movie two thumbs and an ugly big toe DOWN!

Did I ever mention that I love movie lines? I'm sure if you know me at all, you have experienced a time when I have interjected a random line into a conversation. Okay, for the weekend updates. Friday evening, the kids and I went to a pitch-in, get-to-know-you sort of thing with our new homeschool group. It was quite uneventful (snicker). Then I headed down to D & L's house to watch Signs. I can't say I retained any quotes from that movie. Which is sad because Mel Gibson has some really good dry humor. I may have been tired or distracted or both.

Then Saturday, I spent most of the day on the phone. I colored my hair. Some would say it's too dark. I tried to take a pic of it. I hate pictures of myself. Anyhoo (not a spell check recognizable word)...Sunday I visited Horizon and then had "date" time with Molly and Calla. After we got the babies down, we watched The Princess Bride and then I spent the rest of the evening talking on the phone.
